PE Street Syle; For Elle Street Style Reporter

This picture reminds me of the movie 'Walk the Line'-guitarist and Journalism student, Dillon Bekker pulls off   an old school look by mixing neutral colours with modern day items.

Miss NMMU 2011, Ziphozakhe Zokufa wears daring colours this winter instead of the usual dull wave this season brings. A turban is a great accessory to keep your head warm this winter.

The denim shirt fever is still on the rise. Thandokazi Xulubana opts for a denim on print look, which could also be worn in spring.

Sicheba Mmola in a clean and trendy look.

Scarfs are a must-have item this winter and it's necessary to choose a scarf that will enhance your outfit, Lizanne Butler adds a printed scarf that brings out her cardigan.

Neutral colours make a simple and classy statement.

RE-introduced by Solange, Box braids are making waves on the streets, with the signature thick and long look.

As Live Presenter, Luthando Shosha would say "Wrists Are Never Empty"

The clashing prints is a very experimental trend, and Vuyo Hole proves that it's worth the try.

The monochromatic look can be easily mastered as shown here by Reghardson Julius.

I hear this lad never forgets to take his comb with him. Now that's a signature right there-Mr Afro Comb.

Men in blazers *Ooooh Aaaah moment*

Camilla Mseme's printed sachel and All Stars add a funky vibe to her look.

Being Mr Cool in flip-Sunglasses Lubabalo Same got my attention.

Opt for a Leather bag around campus-for style and comfort.

The over-sized knitwear as worn by Sese Gcali is not limited to any body type.

In the windy city, your hair has to be kept together to avoid unnecessary embarrassment. This natural sister did just that-with her own style in place.
“He’s not perfect. You aren't either, and the two of you will never be perfect. But if he can make you laugh at least once, causes you to think twice, and if he admits to being human and making mistakes, hold onto him and give him the most you can. He isn't going to quote poetry, he’s not thinking about you every moment, but he will give you a part of him that he knows you could break. Don’t hurt him, don’t change him, and don’t expect for more than he can give. Don’t analyze. Smile when he makes you happy, yell when he makes you mad, and miss him when he’s not there. Love hard when there is love to be had. Because perfect guys don’t exist, but there’s always one guy that is perfect for you.”

While other students were out, celebrating the arrival of inter-varsity-some of us had to stay behind because we were either working (me) or writing this week. So instead of being boring for the whole weekend, we spent each day as if it were our last. Being a 'safe' student, I'm always sceptical about some adventures but this weekend I learnt to really enjoy myself. A huge shout out goes to all the ladies that were with me from Friday night to Sunday morning, Dom-Dom, Nazzy J, Khayi, Lu, Simcakes and Deedz!

Dining at Angelo's, the food and the service made it an absolute favourite of mine.

Dom-Dom and Nazzy J enjoying their meal

We couldn't help but to take special note of the man who is wrapped up in the blanket.

Deedz ordered the best meal, we all just dug in her plate.

Lu, being the lady that she is.

Street Style: Black Girls Killing It

Since it's women's month, I've made it a point that I only embrace women and their womanhood. Today I spotted numerous ladies dressed to the T on campus, here are a few:

Known as the 'Blazer Girl', Sinazo Mtshengu rocks one of her collections. I'm in love with head details, whether it be wraps or doeks (they add some elegance to an outfit).

Winter has come out in full swing in PE, and Dominique Ralarala rocks her booties with a red leather jacket. The biker-look is a winner.

While others hide in their rooms, others take advantage of the sun, here Phila Bomela rocks a Spring number with a splash of colour. I love the blazer and shoe colour combo-it truly makes the dress stand out!

My Serena, Sim Kolwake-rocking the monochromatic (one colour) look. She's just always on point.

Lulama Nkosi looks stunning in a simple sophisticated ensemble. The red shoes add so much glamour to her look-the shirt is a Spring must have for any girl.

Always inspired by her style. Picture from here

With a Grammy nomination for his mixtape Nostalgia Ultra, a feature in 2 songs in ‘Watch the Throne’ Frank Ocean is a talent to pay attention to. Before the release of this album Frank came out of the closet, saying that he had fallen in love with a man and if you take a listen to ‘Forrest Gump’ on the album you will realize that his ‘outburst’ was not a publicity stunt. Whether you dislike him or not, his album is worth a listen. The album is more or less similar to his mixtape though, with numerous preludes to the main songs. His biggest song ‘Thinking about you’ from his mixtape is the second track on the album. To love this album you have to understand the order of Ocean’s work because he doesn't go for the usual-although I feel he could have experimented more with his sound. Being a Frank Ocean fan I expected more in this album since he has worked on very great songs with other artists. Songs to look out for are ‘Pyramids’ (which could be turned into a party tune), ‘Lost is’ and ‘Pink Matter’ which features Andre3000.

Street Style: Prep Glam

Mendy Zintwana looks uber fresh in a high-school inspired ensemble. Order a copy of BEAT Magazine to view her other fashion ensembles.

With Beautiful Women Celebrating Women

Being National Women's Day in South Africa, my chinaz and I decided to actually do something instead of sleeping in for the public holiday. We took a stroll to the beach, just to breathe different air-and I must say I truly enjoyed myself. With so many things going on in my life, it felt good to let go and let flow. I believe water has so much positive energy-and to be surrounded by it is magical.
We walked...and walked...and walked-but we arrived!
I love the beach, not to get into the water-but to just chill on the sand.
And this is the reason I prefer to stay out of the water, things like this (Naz thinks it's a swollen tongue) are washed up to shore.
The sun-setting, unexpected photo=such beauty
And that is a wrap from us, I got distracted by a dog (it was just too adorable)
I stumbled on this picture on a Tumblr blog and I was like 'This is her'...in her zone in her space this is how Simphiwe Dana is. What I love about her is that she is not afraid to speak her mind and be herself. She is one of a few females that sings from within. I believe one of the reasons her music isn't well received by the younger generation is because she sings about deeper issues that effect our society.

Bay-tv Women's Month Feature

I was honoured, to be invited to Bay-tv's Big One Up as a young inspirational woman.I would like to wish all the women who are advent followers of the BlackBoldVoice a happy Women's month. As females, we never receive the full recognition we deserve-but this month it's all about us. Let us learn to love each other, acknowledge our differences and embrace our womanhood. Catch me, with Sinazo Mtshengu on Monday at 17:00 talking about BEAT Magazine and the challenges woman of today are faced with.

Behind the scenes, doing sound-checks
So proud of Cwenga Mgubasi, he's a step closer to being where he wants to be.
Nazzy J also represented-looking superphly (she owns sooooo many blazers)
