Yesterday was yet another journey
into the poorest parts of Motherwell. We went to film the third segment of our
documentary which is Lukhanyiso Pre-school. The pre-school was established by
Zodwa Plaatjie, who is the co-founder of Sihlangule. It is in dying need of
aid, the children pee in buckets, there are limited learning materials, the
children take naps on thin mattresses and the place they call a school is
nothing but a tiny shack. My group and I wanted to show the effort sis Zodwa is
making in her community despite the lack of funding. Through our doccie we hope
to raise awareness about Sihlangule Aids Networking Organisation and make a
difference in the lives of those that are less fortunate. If you are studying
at NMMU, please support the car-wash initiative that will benefit Lukhanyiso Pre-school
and if someone from BEAT or Gentilis approaches you for a R2 please do not turn
your back on them-it is for a worthy cause.
