How do you begin to describe a man without ulterior motives, a man who sees so much potential in you-you begin to feel like anything is possible? Well I have been looking for the perfect words to thank a special friend of mine and all that comes to mind is an image of a halo above his head. Kind-hearted, calm-natured, an optimist this man has taught me some of life’s greatest lessons. I remember the first time I went to his room and I noticed a large photo frame filled with photo’s of white people in it, with a dubious look I asked him why he hadn’t replaced the mock photos with real people and he looked at me with total calm and said that he was adopted. In that moment I prayed for something to take me out of the room, unfortunately for me my prayer wasn’t answered and I kept apologising for my assumption. Lebo was cool about the whole incident; he just laughed at me and pretended like I hadn’t insulted him. From that day onwards, I’ve made it my mission to keep silly remarks inside. We worked together for the Green Campus Initiative (GCI) Fashion Show and we initially had no plans to win anything so we enjoyed ourselves throughout the competition. We won the best male design category and I realized that the less you expect something, the greater the feeling of receiving. I know God introduces people in our lives for a reason, I would like to extend my gratitude to Lebohang ‘Lam-lam’ Nakeli for pushing me to start BEAT Magazine, pushing me to get a job and just always reminding me that I am a gem. You my dear friend are much greater gemstone, keep believing in yourself as you have believed in me. I wish you all the best with your course, it takes a great amount of courage to quit something to pursue a passion. Keep writing and know that our God is an ear away. I love you.
